Dating Safety: Don't Let Them Steal More than Your Heart
When your grandparents started dating, chances are they knew each other already or had mutual friends. In those days, a blind date -- going out with someone you hadn't met or knew nothing about -- was a rarity. Today, with the boom in online dating, going on first dates with strangers is commonplace, while dating a friend seems like the "old-fashioned" approach. Read more…
After meeting a new guy online, you go out for a first date and he seems wonderful. You are definitely ready for a second date. But how do you know he is not a sex offender or any kind of person you really don’t want to be around? Although many dating sites have implanted screening services and have limited those registered as a national sex offender from signing up with their site, you still should be safe and know a little bit more about the person you will be going out with. Here are a few tips to stay safe.
Do you own background check. Just simply Google his name. You can find much about the person by looking at what sites he is registered on, his social networking profile, even if he is registered as a sex offender.
Let him know that others know where you are. He should know that you haven’t snuck out to meet him. Let him know that you told your relatives or friends where the date is happening, but you can do it in a polite way. For example, say “oh yeah, I told my sister the name and address as well as phone number of this restaurant in case of an emergency or if she needs to contact me”.
Tell your friends about him. Listen to your friend’s and family’s advice first before going out. Give them his phone number and information as well. Also, listen to your own gut. If your intuition is telling you this guy is no good or you are getting a bad vibe from him, then be aware and try staying away. If you ask to meet in a public place and he gets defensive and says “what, don’t you trust me?” then you should immediately stay away from him.
Verify his honesty. If he is employed, get his work number so you can verify his honesty and it will put your mind at ease a bit.
This might seem like stalking or even embarrassing, but remember, these are precautions. You don’t know how you are going out with so by doing these precautions, you will be able to stay safe and enjoy your time with your potential date. Read more…
Internet dating can be a remarkable and life changing experience. Unfortunately, not everyone you meet on Internet dating sites are who they seem to be. There are many scammers out there who hide behind a computer screen in search for their next prey. To avoid this, it is important that if you are in search for true love on dating sites to be aware of certain types of scams and report them. However, some people also might be lying to you on dating sites in order to either sell their business or have alternative motives than true love.
Let’s take one scenario as an example. Let’s say you are a 50 year old man and yeah, browsing through all of these beautiful profiles of younger girls with gorgeous eyes and big breasts are a dream for you to get, but you know that will never happen. Suddenly you get a message from a 20 year old girl saying “I don’t care about age, I am all yours”. Wow! You start getting excited and set up a meeting. Waiting for her in a café, she comes and tells you that for a hundred bucks, you can have her for an hour.
To avoid this kind of scam, the best way is to be realistic. Think about it, why would a woman who is the same age as your daughter want to find true love with an older man? When you are lonely, it is hard to think realistically, but think that if it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is.
Another scenario for women would be looking for a guy with a fake photo. Maybe some guy who has a beer belly and could be 50 years old posts a photo of a macho muscular young guy to attract younger women. He sounds like a smooth romantic talker online so you absolutely can’t resist not meeting him instantly. You wind up meeting up and it turns out to be everything that isn’t what he said. Again, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
The best way to avoid all kinds of scams is again to use common sense and exercise caution. After chatting with someone for a few days and you begin to get suspicious on who they say they are, then it is best to just stop communication and move on. Whether you are male or female, you deserve someone great and much better than a liar, so keep looking as there are many people out there who are looking for true love, just be aware of scammers and liars.

Safety Date's for Men and Women
When it comes to online dating, I always tell everyone the same thing, it's far beyond safer then actual dating. It is an extremely safe way to date because of the distance that's actually between the two dating. It let's you to not only flip through profiles like as if you're picking from a date vending machine but you are able to judge this person on who they really are, once you start chatting with them, before you judge them on something they would have worn on a date or perhaps their size even. You will learn that you get a much stronger bond with the person when you start online. You will learn that size doesn't matter and nor does looks when you meet online. And once you fall in love with their personality, once you meet they will truly look beautiful to you no matter what they really looked like, and that's when you think 'Wow, how many like her did I turn down or didn't want to get to know only because they were slightly over weight..?' At that point you will feel dumb, but also have a feeling of self satisfaction that here you are in love with one that was like the ones you may have turned down before. That goes to show a few things, don't judge a book by its cover and not to judge someone on first appearances. So meeting online makes people more comfortable and also allows you to pace yourself, take it slow if needed and be selective because of all the choices you have. But honestly, if your first one is great, maybe you should stick with that one and not look for more 'just in case'.
