Whitney's Real Tragedy: Giving Up Her greatest love of all - Robyn Crawford
I met Whitney and her female partner at the Reach Out & Touch HIV vigil in London in 1991. Whitney spoke movingly in support of people with HIV, at a time when many other stars kept their distance. Her support was much valued. She advocated the welfare and human rights of people with HIV. It was a commendable stand.
I've been hearing about Robyn for some years now and in the beginning I found this type of tea interesting. Now I'm starting to get aggravated and tired of reading about their secret relationship. I know out of all the information people can put out about Whitney, albeit, sex, drugs and rock and roll. I know nothing can trump the fact that this woman's lifetime contributions overrides all negative press. The only thing I'm interested in is praying for Bobbi Kristina and sending her nothing but positive energy to get through this rough time and to be able to hold her head up high.
The stories about Robyn and Whitney being more than friends are nothing new; however, that was their story to tell. Since none of them cared to tell it publicly, I don't think anyone has the right to publish anything about their personal life. People need to know their damn role and shut their damn mouths. I am all for people living their truth, but I have never liked the fact that people feel they have a right to force someone out of the closet, that is if they are indeed in the closet.
People have a right to believe what they want to believe about Whitey and Robyn, I know for sure that I do; however, no one needs to be going around publishing their thoughts for all to see when the people in question have never commented on the issue. People need to mind their damn business when it comes to certain things.
Some family! If anyone has a problem with me or who I love, I expect MY family to invite them outside!
Like, my dad was giving me crap once because I was in the paper for organizing gay pride. He was furious that I "made the neighbors deal with it." I told him that wasn't what I expected of my father. If someone had a problem with who I was, my idea of a father was someone who would take that person outside & give them a thrashing. I don't mean that literally, but on an emotional level. Like, stick up for me strongly. Is that more clear?
