Beyonce Accused of Skin Lightening in New Album Promo Ad

Is that you Beyonce? The Grammy award-winning singer who just gave birth to Baby Blue is being slammed for looking too snow white in her new promo ad. In the photo, which is being used to re-promote her album "4," Beyonce is pictured lying across a leopard print couch, flaunting her enviable figure (shot pre-pregnancy. Thank goodness!) in a crochet bodysuit and appearing much lighter than her normal skin tone.

That's not because of a light, it is called Air Brushing, deliberately done and rather insulting toward her own race, this isn't yellow so to speak, although very beautiful it's white except for her legs, it doesn't look like her either.

I just think it's funny that she was in a hair color commercial, doesn't she wear a weave, and doesn't the weave come 'pre-colored'?

They wanna be black... but not TOO black... I don't get it.. they are being predjudice to their own race. Not a good message for THEIR young people.

it's no more insulting than white people who think they need to be "tanned" --- stop with the double-standard

The problem with her looking lighter is because of the problems that exist within ALL races that whiter is better. The majority of the cultures around the world have always seen light skinned individuals as more beautiful or of higher social status. The African American community has an issue with skin bleaching in trying to achieve a lighter skin tone. If ads like this keep coming out the problem will continue. The media unfortunately is responsible for a lot of the problems, similar to the problems girls are having with weight.

yet in the white community being darker, olive skin or tan, is looked at as being more beautiful.

Yeah being darker is also a thing people like to do, and it's only racial if you make it racial! Who cares! If we stop talking about it, it will get better!

As a naturally-alabaster person (I lack the tanning gene--ask my doctor), I can say there's a lot of pressure to be tan. It's just better for us all if we accept natural variations. We think of flowers of all colors as beautiful; why not people?

Oh for heaven's sake....if it's okay for light skinned folk to get spray on tans, then surely it's also okay for people with darker skin to lighten it whether with bleach, makeup or photoshop. Some people seem to have too much time on their hands and try to fill it by finding stuff to complain about!

Please. Hopefully, she can past for another race. Blacks can be done with her. All that money and she still refuses to learn how to speak proper English.

I believe much more is made of this situation than there really is. Who say's that what's she wanted. The article say sit, and people just believe it. I'm fair skinned and if the light is a certain way I can appear darker or lighter. I love me, a darker or lighter version.

I just dont think it looks like her at all. When I first saw the photo with the hair curled I thought it was Rihanna. Bad branding if your fans cant even tell who it is on the cover of your record.

Beyonce couldn't "look White" if she tried. I think its just the lighting that washes her out...When your skin is more pigmented depending on the lighting you can look very varied in skin shades. I think whomever wrote this article needs to get a life!

If the case is talking bad about beyonce cause she is trying to be white (light skinned), then tell the whole African American people in the u.s. about sewing weaves into their head with hair that is not naturally theirs..... Does that mean they are not proud of their nappy roots? obviously not, if everyone does it....

remember the "time" magazine cover that had O.J. Simpson's mug shot. the edges of his face where DARKENED. the original mug shot was lighter than the "time" cover picture. "time" got in trouble for that.
